Volunteers

Cookstown and Dungannon Women’s Aid has a long history of volunteer involvement and considers volunteers essential to maintaining and developing a high standard of support for women and children.

Volunteers bring a wide range of skills, qualities, experience and knowledge to the organisation and work with paid staff to support various aspects of our work. Volunteering provides individuals with the opportunity to understand better the nature of domestic violence and its impact on women, children, family life and the community. It also provides the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge which can be used in the areas of training, education and for employment. We welcome volunteers from the local community as well as from overseas.

“Being a volunteer has been more of an experience than I could have imagined; it’s a chance to get involved with an interventionist organisation. In the case of being unemployed, it is an excellent means of developing skills and accessing training.”
